Neuromodulators such as Botox work by relaxing the muscles and preventing them from contracting during facial expressions. As the muscles contract, wrinkles and folds are formed. By preventing muscle contraction, these neuromodulators soften existing wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming. Radiesse works differently. It is both a filler and a biostimulator, so it allows for immediate results like a traditional filler and also gradually stimulates collagen production. Unlike neuromodulators that act on muscle movement, Radiesse works on augmenting volume and enhancing collagen production to give a more youthful look.

Avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or fish oil for 2 weeks before treatment, but do not stop any medications without your prescribing physician’s approval. Consider taking arnica pills orally for a week before and after your treatment to help minimize bruising.
Don’t exercise, go in a sauna or jacuzzi, or do anything to increase circulation for 24 hours after treatment. Wash your face gently with soap and water, but don’t scrub or exfoliate too hard. Avoid facials for one week after the procedure. Do not apply makeup for 8 hours after the procedure.
